The Last of Us 2 is a resounding success: 4 million in just three days

It is well known that The Last of Us 2 is a great game, but as we well know, the objective opinion of the press does not always perfectly match the tastes of the public. Furthermore, in the last period, we have repeatedly read of attacks on the game and, above all, of yet another review bombing phenomenon. All this, however, has in no way weighed on the video game. The Last of Us 2 has in fact sold more than 4 million copies in just three days.

The news comes directly from Sony Interactive Entertainment via the PlayStation Blog. We see the message from Eric Lempel, Senior Vice President at PlayStation Worldwide Marketing: “We are happy to inform you that The Last of Us 2 is now the PS4 exclusive that has sold faster than ever, with more than 4 million copies sold by the June 21 [the game was released on June 19, ed.]. This milestone would not have been achieved without the support of our fantastic fans, so on behalf of all SIE members, thank you very much! “

Neil Druckmann, Vice President of Naughty Dog and Director of The Last of Us 2, also shared a message with the players:

We are immensely grateful to the millions of fans around the world who have played The Last of Us Part 2 and shared their experiences with us over the past week. We wanted to tell a new type of story, one that deals with difficult topics and tests you in unexpected ways.

Finding out how much this experience has affected many of you and witnessing reasoned discussions that the game has brought about has been incredible. We were also inspired by your creativity, thanks to the photos taken with the photo mode, the incredible gameplay gifs and the songs you recorded using Ellie’s guitar. The Last of Us 2 was made possible by the efforts of hundreds of talented and passionate developers at Naughty Dog.

We cannot imagine a greater honor than seeing the same passion even in the people who play it. Thanks to everyone for helping us achieve this incredible milestone.
